Weeks 10-12
If you were wondering why I didn't write a blog update last week, it's because a few friends and I drove up to Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reef! It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I saw fish of all different sizes and colours, sea turtles, starfish, coral, anemones, and many other cool things that I don't know the name of. The whole time I was thanking Him for making this world so beautiful and that we can go out and see the work of His hands displayed throughout His creation. It was a wonderful experience that I would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of coming to Australia! It was also nice to get out of the same town that we've been in for three whole months. It was an amazing trip that I am so grateful to have experienced!
I was excited to get back into lectures and hear about Relationships with Matt Dawson, until I got sick. On Sunday, I came down with a fever and was only able to hear three of the five teachings. However, I got a lot out of the ones that I did hear. He taught us a lot about how important forgiveness is. If we don't do it, it stays as a bitter spot in our hearts which, in turn, affects all our other relationships. Being quick to forgive, on the other hand, allows for instant simplicity and peace within us. We owe everyone love, but we don't owe everyone an intimate connection. Forgiveness is the first step to restoring love and trust. After all, Jesus forgives us for the many sins we commit each day if we just ask, so we should be able to do the same with those around us. Judging is also a big problem within many relationships. We need to remember that we are very limited by our perspective in certain situations. Assuming the highest of people's motives leads to honouring them and staying out of conflict. There are many other things I learned this week that I've applied to my life. I'm so thankful that I was healthy enough to hear Matt speak, since he really knew what he was talking about!
Only ONE MORE WEEK until outreach!! As final plans are coming together, I'm getting more and more excited for 7 weeks of life onboard a medical ship sailing around the beautiful country of Papua New Guinea. I can't wait to see the ways in which God works through us and how we can help the many people we will encounter. There may or may not be one last blog post next weekend before I leave, depending on how much I procrastinate packing.
